Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) is one of the best engineering universities in Bangladesh. It is located in the Khulna district of the Khulna division of southern Bangladesh. Formerly it was called Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Khulna and earlier, Khulna College of Engineering. About 6,000 students are studying undergraduate and postgraduate engineering and science here. The number of teachers here is more than 556. Besides, there are 132 officers and 425 employees. The university campus is 14 km from Khulna city. To the north, it is located at Fhulbarigate on the Jessore-Khulna highway.
History:
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) was established in 1986 as Khulna Engineering College under the Faculty of Engineering of Rajshahi University. The organization started its journey on 3rd June 1984 under the direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later to ensure the better academic and research capabilities and environment, it is converted to an autonomous institute called Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Khulna in July 1986. To meet the demands of the days in the academic and research arena, the institute was upgraded and renamed as Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) in September 2003.
Khulna College of Engineering:
Khulna Engineering College started its journey in 1984 with only 9 teachers and 120 students. In Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, 40 students were admitted, one of whom was a student. Later, 1 more female student and 15 male students were added from other colleges through migration.
Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Khulna:
In 1986, it was upgraded from Khulna College of Engineering to Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Khulna, which was governed by the Council of BIT. The Chairman of this Council was the Humble Minister of Education of the Government of Bangladesh. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in 1999 with 60 students. In 2001, two departments were introduced with the aim of awarding postgraduate degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management and undergraduate degrees in Electronics and Communication Engineering. During his stay at BIT, Khulna, a total of 2563 students including 913 students in Civil Engineering, 904 students in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and 629 students in Mechanical Engineering obtained BSc in Engineering degree. Besides, 12 students obtained MSc degree. Convocations were organized in 1999 and 2003
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology:
After being upgraded from BIT to University in 2003, it started its educational activities in a fully autonomous manner. The Department of Energy Technology was introduced at the postgraduate level in 2006, after which it was renamed as Energy Science and Engineering. Graduation teaching in this department started from 2016. The Department of Energy Biomedical Engineering was introduced at the postgraduate level in 2006 and the undergraduate course in this department was introduced in 2014. The departments of Urban and Regional Planning, Leather Engineering, Textile Engineering in 2012, Building Engineering and Construction Management in 2013, Architecture, Materials Science and Engineering were opened in 2016.The Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) was opened in 2010 for higher research, the Institute of Disaster Management (IDM) in 2013 and the Institute of Environment and Power Technology (IEPT) in 2016.
Location:
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology is located at Fulbarigate in the north-western region of Khulna, the third largest departmental city in the south-western region of Bangladesh. The campus is located 6 km away from Zero Point in Khulna City. The communication system from campus to city is very good. It is located 12 km from the district bus terminal and 10 km from the Khulna Railway. It is located on 101 acres of land.
Faculty and Departments:
KUET has a total of 20 departments under 3 faculties. Among them, bachelor’s degrees are awarded from 16 departments.
Requirements for admission Test
At Undergraduate level enrollment is made only after a formal combined admission test for all the departments. To sit for the Admission Test one must fulfill pre-specified requirements. The requirements are set by the Admission Committee. Generally admission requirements, rules and the availability of forms are published in the national dailies after the result of H.S.C (Higher-Secondary School Certificate) Examination. A certain number of students are given chance to sit for the admission test according to the cumulative G.P.A. of Physics , Chemistry , Mathematics and English of H.S.C. result.

Procedure
The admission process for KUET undergraduate programs is comprised of three parts. The first part is designed for the submission of basic information, including your academic background, personal information and the payment of application processing fee. You have to submit your information through the online application system. The application processing fee will be paid through SureCash (Rupali Bank and PSL) and Rocket (DBBL Mobile Banking). After receiving application within deadline, top 12000 applicants will be selected based on their academic records to sit for the admission test.
The second part of the admission process is the admission test. The short listed applicants may sit for the admission test on the specified date and time. Based on the written admission test result, top 1060 candidates (Additional 5 Reserved sits for small ethnic group or tribal of Chittagong hill tracks) will be selected for admission into KUET.
Selected 1060 candidates have to submit online department selection/ choice before the admission into KUET. According to this choice of department and merit position department will be assigned. After/ During admission candidate will not be allowed to change the department selection. So, candidates are advised to fill the department choice properly.
The third part of the admission process involves the submission of original documents, authenticity check followed by health examination and submission of admission fees of the above selected candidates respectively. During admission, however, the selected candidates will have to specify their prioritized choices of departments they wish to study. After the class starts, if any admitted student remains absent from attending the classes for consecutive two weeks, his or her admission will be cancelled.
Information of Quota
The seats mentioned below will be reserved for Small Ethnic Groups (1) students and students of Chittagong Hill Tracts (4). To get chance in these reserved seats, the candidate has to qualify with minimum quality to sit for the admission test and secure at least 150 marks in the admission test.
